How should I clean my machine?
To clean a Fletcher mat cutter, simply wipe down using a lint-free cloth moistened with lighter fluid. NEVER lubricate this mat cutter as oils will damage your matboard.
How often should I change my mat blade?
Frequently! A sharp blade guarantees crisp, clean cuts. Inserting a new blade every few mats is recommended and when you consider the cost of a blade compared to that of a matboard, it's worth the extra cost of a new blade.
What blade should I use?
This is really a matter of preference. The .012 is typically preferred as an all-around, general purpose blade. Some framers like the .015 and .016 for denser mats.
Why do I need a slipsheet?
All mat cutters perform best with a minimal support under the mat. It produces a cleaner, crisper edge to the bevel cut.
