DeGroom DeGrooms mixed media art focuses on the fanciful and beautiful aspects of life. Many of his works, captured from local, recognizable scenes, evoke memories, stimulate emotions and bring joy to the viewer. Are you looking at a painting - or is it a photograph? The debate goes on! His works are the product of a keen eye, technical expertise, and creative talent. The technique involves photographing an image, then scanning that image to the computer. From there, DeGroom creates his picture. The image is then transferred to a rough surface, acid-free watercolor paper. The ink used in this art is both waterproof and light fast. DeGroom has received numerous awards for his work which is found in public and private collections. His work, published in books and appearing on annual report covers has also been on the covers of national publications including Boating Magazine, Rudder Magazine, and Venture Magazine. After receiving a degree in Photographic Science from Rochester Institute of Technology, DeGroom became an advertising photographer in N.Y.C. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served stateside as an Army Photographer. During the course of his career, he has worked with Andy Warhol, and Look magazines former director of photography, Arthur Rothstein. DeGroom's work is sold through a gallery network. For this reason he does not sell to the public directly. Ask your local gallery about collecting this art. |
