The Mishneh Torah of Moses Maimonides (1135-1204) covers the entire span of philosophical and religious law that is the basis of traditional Judaism. Maimonides was one of the towering figures in medieval intellectual and religious life, and the first person to write a systematic code of Jewish law. Beautifully illuminated manuscript editions of the Mishneh Torah were created by masterful scribes and artists, bringing the narrative to life, as shown in the visually compelling opening page of this edition of the Sefer Ahavah (The Books of Love), the second of the fourteen books which make up the The Mishnesh Torah. This manuscript has been protected in the Vatican Library's archive of works from the Rossi family collection (Rossini 498, folio 43 verso). Dimensions Edition Size Price 13" x 11" Open $125.00 |
